Un grain de folie dans les rouages du théâtre anglophone.

12mai

The Pearl - Workshop

18décembre

Some days ago we studied eleven extracts of The Pearl. Then, at the theatre, before starting the workshop we expected that the artists would play the extracts that we had studied. Actually, we participated too. We warmed up with the actors. It was funny! Warming up, vocal exercises, human pyramids, improvisation,  a bit of tap dancing: that’s what we did with them.

Workshop THE PEARL

18décembre

First of all, we didn’t expect to do activities like that, we were very surprised and we enjoyed the session.
When we met Andrew Wilson, the director, and his four actors, they introduced themselves and told us about their roles in the play.
Then, we started some original exercises, like preparation of the voice and of the body ; we made some sounds with our feet and our hands, and one of the actors “ Kino” sang “ We will rock you” ! It was very interesting and funny.
Moreover, this session enabled us to get out of the traditional school activities and to relax.
At the beginning, we were very shy, but the company reassured us.
In our opinion, these activities were very original, and we really appreciated this moment with theatre professionals. They passed us their energy !
WE HOPE TO DO THAT AGAIN !

Theatre in english

17décembre

Last week, we met Andrew Wilson and the Pearl's cast. We did some warming up  exercises practised each time by the actors before playing. For instance, vocal exercises (we sang We will rock you!), physical exercises like dancing or stretching. Then, we improvised on the Pearl, we had to choose a scene and to invent our own staging.

First, we would like to thank the cast and the director for this special morning ; in our opinion, it was very interesting and pleasant.
We especially enjoyed the beginning of the activity and the performance of the actors. Moreover, w
e think that all these exercises are necessary to feel good on the stage. It was very funny to share these emotions with the other students and actors. They advised us about our improvisations and they were ready to listen to us. We were surprised to see that we understood everything that they said and that we succeded in speaking English without any complex. We know that we were lucky to work with them. We'll be glad to see their adaptation of The Pearl. These three hours went too quickly!

The Pearl workshop

17décembre

On December 11th , Andrew Wilson and 4 actors came to our school . We practised warm up exercises, it was great, we had a lot of fun. First we walked  in all the room's space, then we did the "E.T game", which is moving without losing finger contact, afterwards  we built human pyramids. Then we began to act scenes from the Pearl. It was a creative experience.

Andrew Wilson was very nice. He didn't force us to come on stage. Plus the actors who played Kino, Juana, the doctor and the servant helped us by giving us ideas about how we could play their characters. Futhermore, it was a good occasion to see our teacher dancing on Mexican music.

Workshop

17décembre

First of all, we want to thank the actors and Andrew, the director for coming. It was really nice of them to spend three precious hours with us. Let us tell you more about this workshop.

The warming-up :
First, after the actors had introduced themselves, Andrew told us to walk all over the room, more and more quickly, when he clapped his hand, we had to stop. The next exercise was to warm up the hands, the wrists, the arms... And we finished with a human pyramid. It was an amazing experience and we had fun !

The improvisation :
At the beginning, we formed a circle with one person in the middle and everyone could go to change places with him. Step by step, we were supposed to improvise a little situation in order to chase away the person who was in the middle. Then, we had 5 minutes to prepare a little improvisation about any subject we wanted.

The acting :
We had to choose a scene from The Pearl and to act it with the help of the actors. Almost all the students chose the second scene when Coyotito was stung by a scorpion and when Kino and Juana go to the doctor's. Nevertheless, there were many different interpretations.
