Raphaël Talking about the News

Today Raphaël has chosen to speak about Sunday’s parliamentary elections where the French Socialist Party took the lead with nearly 35%.Marine Le Pen's National Front got almost 14 percent of the votes whereas the conservative Union for a Popular Movement (UMP) got 34%. Nevertheless, the bloc of the Left Party , the Front de Gauche” and the Communists are expected to end up with a stronger position in parliament.
The voters’ turnout (taux de participation) in this first round was at only 57% , which means that there was a high abstention rate reflecting the voter’s weariness…( lassitude)

What do you think the turnout in the second round is going to be ? Why is it important ?

Maybe the turnout in the second round is going to be a little bit higher than in the first one. First, people who didn't vote or who voted white at the first round may have a clearer idea. Besides, they could decide to not leave a certain political party win assembly seats by voting another one.
A high turnout is important because people who have an opinion should vote. Moreover, they mustn't forget that they have democratic rights. After elections, they have no interest to complain owing to a candidate who might not correspond to them, mainly if they didn't have voted.
The second round is very important because if the right wins, we would have "a right Prime Minister" so the left wouldn't control the government which is a big problem! They absolutely have to win a majority in National Assembly...
Well, it is important in fact, but if you think about it, not so much.
Because the president can dissolve the Assembly thanks to one of his personal power.
So people will vote Left because they are intelligent ! (I suppose) (if they have already vote Right)
I think the turnout must be higher ! People do not realize how much it's important to avoid a Right Assembly... To my mind, one of the reasons which explain the rate of abstention could be the fact that people don't know how the Prime Minister is chosen. And then they could understand why it's important to vote for the Left ! ( of course that's my opinion )
I'm sorry, I'm not into politics at all. And I hate that!! Even if it's important, I don't how answer to that question.
I think many people thought that the first round is not important but they are wrong becase they can have a surprise!
For me the second round is very important because the president will maybe have to elect new ministers.
Sorry I have forgotten a "u" in the first because
I won't reveal my position about French politics at the time even if mine is clear and deeply marked.
;-) )
There is one thing I would like to say to my young students (boys as girls) for their next years of citizenship: when you'll be authorized to vote, do it !
Don't be lazy, or indecis, or just indifferent. That's one of your rights and you have to use it at 100 %. (or with a probability of 1
Mrs Jules, sorry for the mistakes but I try to do my best
